When I began this painting, I wasn't just trying to depict a moment in scripture-I was trying to capture a feeling. The First Sacrament represents that sacred evening when the Savior first offered the emblems of His body and blood, yes—but even more, it represents what that moment still means for us today.
To me, it's the beginning of so many "firsts." The first time we truly understand what His love feels like. The first time we realize that no matter how far we've wandered, we are always invited back. The first time we let ourselves be still enough to feel His spirit settle around us like warmth.
This painting is an invitation. It's the Savior saying, Please partake of my spirit. Not just once a week at the sacrament table-but daily. Personally.
Quietly. Again and again. He doesn't want anything more than for us to feel His love—not in theory, but for real. Tangibly. Deeply.
When I look at this piece, I think about fresh starts. About how patient He is with us. And I hope that anyone who stands in front of it might feel that same invitation-to pause, to breathe, and to marvel that He would care so much for us... enough to give everything.
I hope this painting gives you a moment to sit in that love. Because it's real. And it's for you.
