A Portrait of Home
Custom Home Sketches by Michelle Ricks
There’s something rather wonderful about a home, isn’t there? It quietly holds all the bits and pieces of our lives. The laughter, the chaos, the growing up, the coming and going, and all those perfectly ordinary days that somehow become the ones we miss most.
I recently sketched the home of a lovely neighbouring family who are moving away. As I worked, I found myself thinking about all the life that had happened behind those windows. I wanted to give them something they could take with them, a little piece of a place that had meant so much.
I’ve always loved the character of a hand drawn line. It’s not perfectly precise, and that’s rather the point. There’s warmth in the imperfections, something personal about the time spent noticing all those little details that make one home different from every other.
So, I’ve decided to offer custom sketches of your homes. Perhaps it’s the house where you raised your children, your very first home, or the one you still return to in your memories.
I would be delighted to draw it for you.
After all, we may leave a house, but the lovely thing is that it never quite leaves us.
